If you own a car in Tallahassee, then you are required to have Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage. It covers medical expenses, lost wages and death benefits. However, only eighty percent of your medical expenses and sixty percent of your lost wages can be recovered. After a car accident, many people are unaware that you must seek medical treatment within fourteen days in order to receive PIP benefits. In the following video, Tallahassee personal injury protection lawyer Eric Milles clarifies the statute of limitations and provides you with more information about PIP benefits.
PIP stands for Personal Injury Protection under Florida law. Florida law has a fourteen day rule where by the motorist injured in an accident must seek medical attention within fourteen days of the vehicle accident. If the motorist does that, they can get up to eighty percent of their medical expenses paid up to policy limits and up to sixty percent of their lost wages up to policy limits.
