As a person who enjoys walking around my community and going places on foot, I regularly notice the number of drivers who are not totally watching the road. Pedestrians have to be vigilant on the streets watching for cars that are not watching for them. Even with a “walk” light to cross the street, you must look out for the vehicle flying up to take a right on red.

According to the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA), the number of persons on foot killed in traffic crashes in 2015 increased 10% from the previous year, and alarmingly they expect it to continue to increase annually. The GHSA is “projecting the largest year-to-year increase in pedestrian fatalities since national records have been kept.” Florida historically has one of the highest pedestrian fatality rates in the country.

Pedestrian safety is clearly a growing problem. Please be careful as you enjoy the beautiful sunny weather walking around. If you are seriously injured in a pedestrian accident, let Milles Law help you receive your rightful compensation. Milles Law is always here for you. Your Rights! Your Lawyer!
